Best Summer Cocktails for 2021

There’s no better way to spend the hot summer days than relaxing in the garden with a cool alcoholic drink in hand. The only real dilemma is: what drink should you make? Fear not, here’s a list of five cocktails that are sure to keep you company through summer this year!

Pimms Pimm’s
Everyone knows this classic drink, and as obvious as it is, it had to be included in this list. The proof is in its unwavering popularity, having been a go-to summer cocktail since the 1800s. The most classic Pimm’s recipe is 1 part of Pimm’s No. 1, to 3 parts sparkling lemonade, accompanied with sliced fruit such as lemon, strawberries, and orange, served with a mint garnish and ice. The best part about this cocktail is that it can be easily adapted for however many servings you wish to make. Whether you’re relaxing in the sun by yourself, or hosting a garden party, it’s the perfect drink for any situation! Passion Fruit Martini
As the UK’s most popular cocktail, it only makes sense to include this in our list. The Passion Fruit cocktail has been topping the charts in the UK since 2018 with its sweet and indulgent flavour, so why not try it for yourself this summer? To make a Passion Fruit Martini, you’ll need: Vanilla Vodka, Passion Fruit liqueur, Passion Fruit (or Passion Fruit nectar), ice, and optionally prosecco served separately in a shot glass. If you don’t have any vanilla Vodka, then you can substitute this by using normal Vodka and vanilla sugar syrup, which is made by melting equal parts of water and sugar together with the addition of a small amount of vanilla extract. With the heat ramping up this summer, it’s time to crack out the alcohol slushies! The best part is that they’re also easy to make. All you need is a blender, 50ml of tequila, 25ml of triple sec, 25ml of lime juice, 15ml of sugar syrup, and a large handful of ice. Add all of these ingredients into your blender, blitz until smooth, and then pour into your glass and serve with a wedge of lime. A drink like this is sure to keep you nice and cool, whilst also giving you the delicious taste of a classic Margarita!

If you wanted to jazz up your frozen Margarita, then look no further than adding 50ml of either Lemon or Raspberry Fruity Tipples liqueur.

Aperol Spritz
An example of a stirred cocktail that’s sure to keep you refreshed, with a perfect mix of citrusy, sweet, and bubbly! To make an Aperol Spritz, simply add ice to a large wine glass, and pour 50ml of Aperol, 80ml of prosecco, 50ml of club soda, overtop the ice, and optionally garnish with slices of orange. This is also another cocktail that’s easy to turn into a slushie, all you had to change is remove the club soda, and up the ingredients to 2 cups of ice (or 350 grams), 80ml of Aperol, 250ml of prosecco, and optionally 80ml of orange juice. Blend all of these together and voila! This recipe should make 2 cocktails.

If you’ve never heard of the Painkiller cocktail, then it’s very similar to a PiƱa Colada, only with orange juice. With a name like Painkiller, there’s no way this won’t cure the summer heat! To make this creamy, sweet cocktail, add 85ml of dark rum, 70ml of pineapple juice, 30ml of orange juice, and 30ml of coconut cream to a cocktail shaker over ice, and shake well. Strain into a glass over fresh ice and optionally garnish with nutmeg. Painkiller cocktail
